WALKING

My first experience with a camera was on disposable film when I was a little girl. I’m a huge Husker fan (GO BIIIIG REEEEED!!!), and this all started because my mom would give me a disposable camera to capture every home football game. Mom and I called this “Molly Vision” a spin off of Husker Vision, the Nebraska media team. My mom developed the rolls of film after each game and I got to hang the best photos on my wall. Growing up, I felt like this was such a fun way to be creative and show my mom my point of view. We would look through them together and she would try to guess why I took the photo, and then I would tell her. It sparked my love of communicating through more than just words. Just like I want the feelings, emotions, and moments to shine through your photos until the end of time.

In high school, I started taking photos of my friends for fun. All of my best friends were older than me and most of them were pretty introverted. They were super nervous to get their senior pictures taken because they didn’t KNOW the photographer. My best guy friend and prom date, Derrick, asked me if I would be willing to take his. Well I was kind of nervous because this seemed high stakes and Derrick flirted with me all the time. But because I really wanted to try this out I said YES! It turns out that wouldn’t be the first time I said yes to Derrick. We got married October 3rd, 2020 on our 7th anniversary. It truly was the best day of my life, I wouldn’t change a thing. I am so obsessed with my man, I would literally wear his skin as a suit if I could.

I have always been that girl with her face in a book, unable to put it down until every page has been turned. And that book better have a happy ending. I get so mad when books or movies don’t end happily with all the loose ends in a perfectly tied knot. The world already has too much sadness or uncertainty, so why should my book? That’s why I’m a sucker for romance novels. The cheesier the better. Love always conquers. I think that’s why I love wedding photography too. I get to see the happy ending every day I go to work. It’s like a REAL LIFE romance novel.

Playing competitive sports taught me how to excel under pressure, handle high stress environments, and be the best team player. I rock at reading the room or roster and knowing what people need. It’s second nature to me to affirm and build people up, or give them space if they need it. And if you think about it, a wedding is really just a big game. You practice for it, strategize the game plan, have a huge team, and there’s so much hype around the event. I take care of my teammates, just like I will take care of you. I will anticipate what you need and hype you up. Give me the ball on match point or toss it to me before the buzzer and I will always come through. You can trust me in those high stress moments, because I have thrived in them a thousand times over.
